How Pohex verifies coupon codes
Most coupon sites list codes that readers submit and never test them. Pohex lists only codes that two creators, Luna and Leo, hold through the stores' own affiliate programs, and every code is checked by software at the store's real checkout before it appears here. This page explains what that check does and what it does not do.
1. The code is applied in a real cart
For each code, the checker opens the store, builds a cart with one item and a second cart with two items, and applies the code to each. It builds the same carts with no code as a control. The difference between the control total and the coded total is the measured discount. Two cart sizes tell a percentage apart from a fixed amount and catch codes that only work above a minimum. No order is placed; the carts stop at the payment step.
2. A measured discount outranks a stated one
A brand may describe a code as 20% off. If the checkout shows 15%, Pohex shows 15%. A hand-entered figure is displayed only while a code has never been measured, and a code with no known discount is not published at all.
3. Dead codes are removed daily
A daily sweep re-applies every listed code at checkout. A code that the store rejects is taken off the site, its store page and the sitemap. Stores that change their checkout, go offline or end a program drop out the same way.
4. What the dates mean
“Verified” next to a code is the most recent day a checkout confirmed it, either in the measurement run or the daily sweep. A code with no date has not been confirmed by a checkout yet and is shown with the brand's stated terms only. Dates are never set to the day a page was built.
5. What is not checked
The checker does not read a store's exclusions, shipping rules or regional limits, and it cannot know about a sale the store runs after the test. A code can work on the test cart and not on yours. The store's own cart is the final word, which is why every tip on this site says to confirm the total before paying.
6. How Pohex is paid
The codes belong to Luna and Leo's affiliate accounts. When a code is used, the store pays the creator a commission. That is the only income behind this site; stores do not pay to be listed, and a store's position in a list is set by its most recent verification date, not by what it pays.
